Description:

The UCC28070A and UCC28070 are advancedpower factor correction (PFC) controllers thateach integrate two pulse-width modulators (PWMs)operating interleaved by 180° in CCM boost-mode.Both devices can switch at frequencies up to 300kHz,while the UCC28070A device is capable of operatingdown to 10kHz for IGBT power-switch based PFCconverters in high-power applications. The minimumoperating frequency of the UCC28070 device islimited to 30kHz.The 180° out-of-phase interleaved operationgenerates substantial reduction in input and outputripple currents and conducted-EMI filtering becomeseasier and less expensive. All the other features andbenefits of the UCC28070A and UCC28070 devicesare the same.Both devices feature multiple innovations includingcurrent synthesis and quantized voltage feedforwardto promote performance enhancements in PF,efficiency, THD, and transient response. In addition,frequency dithering, clock synchronization, and slewrate enhancement further expand the potential forperformance improvements. Also, protection featuresinclude output overvoltage detection, programmablepeak-current limit, undervoltage lockout, and openloop protection.
