The FT230X is a USB-to-serial UART interface that has optimized the number of pins for smaller PCB designs and features the following advanced functions:

Single-chip USB-to-asynchronous serial data transmission interface.

The entire USB protocol is processed on the chip. No USB-specific firmware programming is required.

Fully integrated 2048-byte multiple programmable (MTP) memory for storing device descriptors and CBUS I/O configurations.

Fully integrated clock generation without the need for external crystals, and the clock output can be selected to achieve a glue-free interface with external MCUS or FPgas.

The data transmission rate ranges from 300 baud to 3 megabits (RS422, RS485 and RS232), operating at TTL level.

A 512-byte receiving buffer and a 516-byte sending buffer are utilized using buffer smoothing technology to achieve high data throughput.

FTDI's royalty-free virtual COM port (VCP) and direct (D2XX) drivers eliminate the need to develop USB drivers in most cases.

Configurable CBUS I/O pins.

Send and receive LED driver signals.

Supports 7 or 8-bit data bits, 1 or 2-bit stop bits, as well as odd/even/tag/space/unchecked UART interfaces.

Synchronous and asynchronous bit-tap interface options, with RD# and WR# turn-on pulses.

USB battery charging detection. Allow USB peripheral devices to detect the presence of higher power sources to achieve better charging.

The device is pre-programmed with a unique USB serial number.

USB power supply configuration; Supports bus power supply, self-power supply and bus power supply with power switching.

Integrated 3.3V level converter for USB I/O. True 3.3V CMOS drive output and TTL input; It can operate up to 1.8V through an external pull-up resistor. Withstand 5V input.

Configurable I/O pin output drive strength; 4 mA (minimum) and 16 mA (maximum).

Integrated power-on reset circuit.

Fully integrated AVCC power filter - no external filtering required.

UART signal inversion option.

5V single power supply operation.

Internal 3V3/1V8 LDO regulator.

Low operating current and USB pause current; 8mA (typical active state) and 125uA (typical paused state).

Compatible with UHCI/OHCI/EHCI main controllers.
