Overview: 

The AX16C23 is a standard I²C interface communication LCD controller/driver chip. The chip provides two display modes, 1/4 duty cycle and 1/8 duty cycle, 1/4 duty cycle mode can drive up to 220 dots (55 x 4) and 1/8 duty cycle mode can drive up to 408 dots (51 x 8).

The AX16C23 has a built-in clock generator, LCD bias voltage generator module and LCD driver voltage follower as well as a standard I²C interface. Its main features are as follows:

● Operating voltage: 2.4 to 5.5V

● Standard I²C bus interface

● Low power consumption

● Multiple blinking modes

● Read/write address auto-increment

● Internal 32kHz RC oscillator

● 16-level VLCD voltage adjustable

LQFP64 package: 

55×4 mode: 55 SEG×4 COM 

51×8 mode: 51 SEG×8 COM 

LQFP48 package: 

35×8 mode: 35 SEG×8 COM

● Bias voltage: 1/3 or 1/4; Duty cycle: 1/4 or 1/8

● 52 × 8-bit display data registers

● Internal LCD bias generator with voltage follower

● LCD drive voltage adjustable by external resistor
