DESCRIPTION:
The TPSM8282x family of devices consists of 1A, 2A, and 3A step-down converter MicroSiP™ power modules optimized for small solution size and high efficiency. The power module integrates a synchronous step-down converter and an inductor to simplify design, reduce external components, and save PCB area. The TPSM8282x devices come in two variants. The first variant automatically enters power-save mode to maintain high efficiency during ultra-light loads, extending battery run time in systems. The second variant, the TPSM8282xA, features forced PWM operation to maintain continuous conduction mode at all loads, minimizing output voltage ripple. In PWM mode, the converter operates at a nominal switching frequency of 4MHz. In power-save mode, the device operates with a typical quiescent current of 4µA. By using the DCS-Control topology, the device achieves excellent load transient performance and accurate output voltage regulation. The EN and PG pins support sequencing configurations, enabling flexible system design. The integrated soft-start reduces inrush current required from the input power supply. Thermal protection and hiccup short-circuit protection make the solution robust and reliable.
