Texas Instruments TPSM82822SILR

The TPSM82822SILR is a high-performance 2A step-down power module from Texas Instruments' TPSM8282x family, designed to deliver a compact, efficient, and easy-to-use power solution. Housed in a tiny 2.0mm × 2.5mm × 1.1mm MicroSiP™ package, this device integrates the synchronous step-down converter and inductor, significantly reducing external component count and simplifying PCB design. It supports an input voltage range of 2.4V to 5.5V and offers an adjustable output voltage from 0.6V to 4V, with fixed output voltage options also available. This module features the DCS-Control topology, enabling excellent load transient performance and precise output regulation. The TPSM82822SILR is a forced PWM (PWM) variant, maintaining continuous conduction mode (CCM) across all load currents to minimize output voltage ripple. It operates at a nominal 4MHz switching frequency.

Description:

The TPSM8282x device family comprises 1A, 2A, and 3A step-down converter MicroSiP™ power modules optimized for small solution size and high efficiency. The power module integrates a synchronous step-down converter and an inductor to simplify design, reduce external components, and save printed circuit board (PCB) area. The TPSM8282x features two variants. The first variant automatically enters power save mode to maintain high efficiency at ultra-light loads, extending system battery run-time. The second variant, TPSM8282xA, enables forced PWM operation to maintain continuous conduction mode across all currents, minimizing the output voltage ripple. In PWM mode, the converter operates at a nominal switching frequency of 4MHz. In power save mode, the device features a typical operating quiescent current of 4µA. By utilizing the DCS-Control topology, the device achieves excellent load transient performance and precise output voltage regulation. The device's EN and PG pins support sequencing configurations, enabling flexible system design. The integrated soft-start feature reduces the inrush current required from the input power supply. Thermal protection and(hiccup) short-circuit protection make the solution robust and reliable.
