MAXIM MAX16997AAUA+T

The MAX16997AAUA+T is a microprocessor (μP) supervisory circuit designed for high-input-voltage and low-quiescent-current applications, making it ideal for automotive and industrial systems. This device features a single output (ENABLE) controlled by the EN input voltage level and the watchdog timer (WDI). The watchdog timer is disabled when the voltage at EN is below its threshold and begins timing with an initial timeout period eight times the normal period when EN rises above the preset threshold. The device offers capacitor-adjustable timeout periods for the watchdog function, providing flexibility in system monitoring. Operating from a wide 5V to 40V input voltage range, the MAX16997A draws only 18μA typical quiescent current at +125°C. It features an open-drain enable output rated for up to 28V, ensuring compatibility with automotive battery-level signals.

General Description:

The MAX16997/MAX16998 are microprocessor (μP)supervisory circuits for high-input-voltage and lowquiescent-current applications. These devices detectdownstream circuit failures and provide switchover toredundant circuitry. See the Selector Guide for thedifferent versions of this product family.The MAX16997/MAX16998 family has four independentinputs for reset and watchdog functions. SWT and SRTinputs independently set the timeout periods of watchdogand reset timers through external capacitors. RESETIN/EN monitor voltages at respective inputs. A resistivevoltage-divider sets the reset threshold.The MAX16998A/B/D generate two output signals, RESETand ENABLE. RESET asserts whenever RESETIN dropsbelow its threshold voltage or when the watchdog timerdetects a timing fault at WDI. Once asserted, and afterall reset conditions are removed, RESET remains lowfor the reset timeout period, tRESET, and then goes high.The MAX16997A generates one output signal (ENABLE)based on the voltage level at EN and the signal at WDI.The MAX16997A does not have a RESET output. Thewatchdog is disabled if the voltage at EN is below itsthreshold. The MAX16997A watchdog timer starts timingwhen the voltage at EN becomes higher than the presetthreshold voltage level. Each time EN rises above the preset threshold voltage, the initial watchdog timeout periodis 8 times the normal watchdog timeout period (tWP).The MAX16997/MAX16998 are available in 8-pinlead(Pb)-free μMAX® packages and are fully specifiedover the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.
