The ISL68221 is a digital triple output multiphase(X+Y+Z ≤ 3) PWM controller with PMBus V 1.3compatibility. The controller can be configured tosupport any desired phase assignments up to amaximum of three phases across the three outputs(X, Y, and Z). For example, 1+1+1, 1+1+0, or evensingle output operation as a 3+0 configuration issupported. When combined with the Renesas familyof Smart Power Stages and DrMOS devices, designsof exceptional density and performance can becreated.The ISL68221 uses the Renesas proprietary digitalsynthetic current modulation scheme to achieve theindustry-best combination of transient response, easeof tuning, and efficiency across the full load range.Diode emulation and automatic phase add/dropfeatures allow you to extract maximum efficiency fromthe converter regardless of load conditions. You canuse the intuitive Renesas PowerNavigator™ softwareto configure and monitor the device.With minimal external components, easyconfiguration, robust fault management, and highlyaccurate regulation capability, implementing ahigh-performance, multiphase regulator has neverbeen easier.
