Winbond W25R256JWEIQ Datesheet

The Winbond W25R256JWEIQ is a 256M-bit (32M-byte) Serial Flash memory designed for systems with limited space, pins, and power. Operating from a single 1.7V to 1.95V supply, it offers ultra-low power consumption down to 1µA in power-down mode. The device supports Standard, Dual, and Quad SPI interfaces with clock frequencies up to 104MHz, enabling equivalent transfer rates of 208MHz (Dual I/O) and 416MHz (Quad I/O) for high-performance code execution directly from flash (XIP) or code shadowing to RAM. The W25R256JWEIQ includes advanced security features such as Replay Protection Monotonic Counter (RPMC), 64-bit unique serial number, three 256-byte Security Registers with OTP locks, and individual block/sector array protection. It is available in space-saving packages and offers erase/program suspend/resume, more than 100,000 program/erase cycles, and over 20 years of data retention.

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONS:

The W25R256JW (256M-bit) Serial Flash memory provides a storage solution for systems with limitedspace, pins and power. The W25R series offers flexibility and performance well beyond ordinary SerialFlash devices. They are ideal for code shadowing to RAM, executing code directly from Dual/Quad SPI(XIP) and storing voice, text and data. The device operates on a single 1.7V to 1.95V power supply withcurrent consumption as low as 1µA for power-down. All devices are offered in space-saving packages.The W25R256JW support the standard Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), Dual/Quad I/O SPI: Serial Clock,Chip Select, Serial Data I/O0 (DI), I/O1 (DO), I/O2, and I/O3. SPI clock frequencies of up to 104MHz aresupported allowing equivalent clock rates of 208MHz (104Hz x 2) for Dual I/O and 416MHz (104MHz x 4)for Quad I/O when using the Fast Read Dual/Quad I/O instructions. These transfer rates can outperformstandard Asynchronous 8 and 16-bit Parallel Flash memories.The device supports JEDEC standard manufacturer and device ID and SFDP Register, a 64-bit UniqueSerial Number and three 256-bytes Security Registers.The W25R series is also equipped with an enhanced authentication security feature by Replay ProtectionMonotonic Counter (RPMC). It provides a high level secured communication between the flash device andthe controller to reduce the system vulnerabilities to hardware attacks.
