Description:
The ISO1042 device is an electrically isolated controller area network (CAN) transceiver that complies with the ISO11898-2 (2016) standard specification. The ISO1042 device provides ±70V DC bus fault protection and ±30V common-mode voltage range. The device supports data rates up to 5Mbps in CAN FD (Flexible Data Rate) mode, enabling faster payload transmission compared to classic CAN. The device uses a silicon dioxide (SiO₂) insulation barrier that can withstand 5000VRMS voltage and 1060VRMS working voltage. Electromagnetic compatibility has been significantly enhanced to achieve system-level ESD, EFT, and surge immunity while meeting radiation standards. When used with an isolated power supply, this device can withstand high-voltage shocks and prevent noise currents from the bus from entering the local ground. The ISO1042 device is available in both basic and reinforced isolation options (see Reinforced and Basic Isolation Options). The ISO1042 device supports a wide ambient temperature range of –40°C to +125°C. The device is available in SOIC16 (DW) and the more compact SOIC-8 (DWV) packages.
