TI TPS54623RHLR Datesheet

The TPS54623RHLR is a fully featured 17V, 6A synchronous buck converter offered in a thermally enhanced VQFN package. It integrates both high-side (26mΩ) and low-side (19mΩ) MOSFETs to deliver high efficiency while minimizing the external component count, making it ideal for space-constrained, high-density power designs. The current-mode control architecture simplifies compensation and enables fast transient response. The switching frequency is adjustable from 200kHz to 1.6MHz and can be synchronized to an external clock, allowing designers to optimize between efficiency and solution size. The SS/TR pin provides adjustable soft-start control and supports tracking for power-supply sequencing. The device also features a power-good output monitor and an enable pin for flexible power-rail management. Comprehensive protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limiting on the high-side FET, low-side sourcing and sinking current limits to prevent runaway and reverse current, as well as

Description:

The TPS54623, available in a thermally enhanced VQFN package, is a fully featured 17V, 6A synchronous buck converter that offers high efficiency and integrates both high-side and low-side MOSFETs, optimized for small designs. Current mode control reduces component count, and the ability to select high switching frequencies further shrinks the inductor size to save board space. The output voltage startup ramp is controlled by the SS/TR pin, which supports both independent power supply operation and tracking mode. In addition, proper configuration of the enable pin and open-drain power-good pin allows for power sequencing. Cycle-by-cycle current limiting on the high-side FET protects the device in overload conditions, and the low-side sourcing current limit prevents runaway current, enhancing the limiting effect. Furthermore, a low-side sinking current limit that turns off the low-side MOSFET is provided to prevent excessive reverse current. When an overcurrent condition persists beyond a preset time, hiccup protection is triggered. When the die temperature exceeds the thermal shutdown threshold, thermal hiccup protection disables the device and re-enables it after the internal thermal shutdown hiccup time. The TPS54623 operates in continuous conduction mode (CCM) under high load conditions and can improve light-load efficiency by skipping pulses.
