TI UCD3138RJAR STOCK

The UCD3138RJAR from Texas Instruments is a fully programmable digital power supply controller, offering a high level of integration and performance for a single-chip solution. Its core is built around dedicated Digital Power Peripherals (DPPs), each featuring a high-speed Error ADC (EADC) and a PID-based digital compensator, enabling precise control of up to 3 independent feedback loops. This device is specifically optimized for AC/DC and isolated DC/DC applications, helping to reduce component counts in IT and network infrastructure systems. It is based on a 32-bit ARM7TDMI-S processor and comes in a 40-pin VQFN package, making it a flexible solution for a wide variety of power conversion topologies including phase-shifted full bridge, PFC, and LLC converters.

Description:

The UCD3138 is a digital power supply controller that offers high integration and excellent performance in a single-chip solution. Its flexible features make this device suitable for a wide variety of power conversion applications. In addition, the multiple peripherals within the device have been specifically optimized to enhance performance in AC/DC and isolated DC/DC applications and to reduce the number of solution components in information technology (IT) and network infrastructure spaces. The UCD3138 controller is a fully programmable solution that gives customers complete control over their applications and enables them to differentiate their solutions from similar offerings. At the same time, Texas Instruments (TI) is committed to simplifying development efforts by providing industry-leading development tools, including application firmware, the Code Composer Studio™ software development environment, and the TI Power Development GUI, which allows users to configure and monitor critical system parameters.

At the heart of the UCD3138 controller are the digital control loop peripherals, also known as Digital Power Peripherals (DPP). Each DPP implements a high-speed digital control loop consisting of a dedicated Error Analog-to-Digital Converter (EADC), a PID-based dual-pole/dual-zero digital compensator, and a DPWM output with a pulse width resolution of 250ps. The device also includes a 12-bit, 267ksps general-purpose ADC with up to 15 channels, timers, interrupt control, and PMBus and UART communication ports. The device is based on a 32-bit ARM7TDMI-S RISC microcontroller, which executes real-time monitoring, configures peripherals, and manages communications. The ARM microcontroller executes its programs from programmable flash memory as well as on-chip RAM and ROM.

In addition to the DPPs, specific power management peripherals have been added to enable high efficiency across the full operating range, high integration for increased power density, reliability, and the lowest overall system cost, as well as high flexibility to support the widest range of control schemes and topologies. Such peripherals include: light-load burst mode, synchronous rectification, LLC and phase-shifted full-bridge mode switching, input voltage feed-forward, copper trace current sensing, ideal diode emulation, constant current/constant power control, synchronous rectifier soft turn-on and turn-off, peak current mode control, flux balancing, secondary-side input voltage sensing, high-resolution current sharing, hardware-configurable soft-start with pre-bias voltage, and more. Topology support has been optimized for voltage-mode and peak-current-mode controlled phase-shifted full bridge, single- and dual-phase Power Factor Correction (PFC), bridgeless PFC, hard-switched full bridge and half bridge, as well as LLC half bridge and full bridge.
