Taiwan MCU manufacturer Holtek has announced a 10%–20% price increase across its entire product portfolio.

According to the company, the price adjustment is mainly driven by rising wafer and IC packaging costs.

Earlier this year, in March, Holtek increased prices on selected low-margin products. This latest adjustment expands the increase to the entire product line, aiming to reflect expected manufacturing costs for the coming year.

MCU Price Increases Are Becoming an Industry Trend

Holtek is not the only MCU supplier to adjust prices this year.

During 2026, several MCU manufacturers have announced price increases due to higher production costs, including suppliers in China, as well as Nuvoton, STMicroelectronics, and Microchip.

This indicates that the latest price adjustments are not caused by temporary supply shortages, but by increasing manufacturing costs across the semiconductor industry.

For products already in mass production, changing an MCU is rarely easy. A replacement often requires firmware updates, PCB verification, and additional testing.

As a result, many manufacturers may choose to absorb the higher component cost rather than redesign their products.
