Product Overview

NY8A051D is an 8-bit microcontroller with EPROM as a memory, designed for multi-IO applications such as remote controls, fan/light controls or toy peripherals. CMOS process and provide customers with low cost, high performance and other advantages. The NY8A051D core is built on a RISC reduced instruction set architecture that can be easily programmed and controlled, with a total of 55 instructions. Except FOR a few instructions that REQUIRE TWO instruction CLOCKS, MOST INSTRUCTIONS can be completed by ONE INSTRUCTION clock, allowing users to easily programmatically control different applications. Therefore, it is very suitable for a variety of low and medium memory capacity but complex applications.

In terms of resources for I/O, NY8A051D has six elastic bidirectional I/O feet, each of which has a separate register control for input or output feet. And each I/O pin has the associated register to achieve pull up or pull down resistance or Open-Drain output. In addition, for infrared remote control products, NY8A051D is built with a selectable frequency infrared carrier transmitter.

The NY8A051D has two sets of timers, which can be used as a general timing application by the system clock or triggered by external signals. In addition, NY8A051D provides a set of 8-bit PWM outputs or buzzer outputs that can be used to drive motors, leds, or buzzers, etc.

NY8A051D uses a dual-clock mechanism, in which both the high-speed oscillation clock and the low-speed oscillation clock are input by the internal RC oscillation. Under the dual-clock mechanism, NY8A051D can select multiple operating modes, such as Normal, Slow, Standby and Haltmode, which can save power consumption and prolong battery life.

In power-saving modes, such as Standby mode and Halt mode, multiple interrupt sources can be triggered to wake the NY8A051D into Normal mode or Slow mode to handle emergencies.

Functional Characteristics

  • Wide operating voltage: (instruction clock is 4 CPU clocks, i.e. 4T mode); 2.0V ~ 5.5V @ system clock ≦ 8MHz; 2.2V ~ 5.5V @ system clock > 8MHz.

    Wide operating temperature: -40°C ~ 85°C; 1Kx14-bit program memory space; 48 bytes of general data register space.

    6 I/O pins (GPIO) that can individually control the input and output directions, PB[5:0].

    PB[5:4] and PB[2:0] selectable for internal pull-up resistor or open-drain output (Open-Drain).

    PB[3] can be selected as input or open-drain output (Open-Drain).

    8-stage deep hardware stack; direct or indirect addressing modes for accessing data.

    One 8-bit up timer (Timer0) with programmable prescaler.

    An 8-bit down timer (Timer1) with optional automatic reload and continuous down timer.

    One 8-bit pulse width modulation output (PWM1); one buzzer output (BZ1).

    38/57KHz infrared carrier (IR) frequency selectable, and carrier polarity selectable via register.

    Built-in power-on reset (POR); built-in low voltage reset (LVR).

    Built-in Watchdog Timing (WDT), which can be switched on and off by the Configuration Word.

    Dual clocking mechanism, system clock can be switched between high or low speed oscillation at any time. High-speed clock: I_HRC (internal 1-20MHz high-speed RC oscillation); low-speed clock: I_LRC (internal 32KHz low-speed RC oscillation).

    Four operating modes to adjust current consumption according to system requirements: Normal mode, Slow mode, Standby mode and Halt mode.

    Five hardware interrupts: Timer0 overflow interrupt, Timer1 underflow interrupt, WDT interrupt, PB input state change interrupt, external interrupt.

    Y8A051D in Standby mode: Timer0 overflow interrupt, Timer1 underflow interrupt, WDT interrupt, PB input state change interrupt, external interrupt.

    NY8A051D has three wake-up interrupts in Halt mode: WDT interrupt, PB input state change interrupt and external interrupt.
