Description

The TPS552872 synchronous buck-boost converter is optimized to convert battery voltage or adapter voltage into power supply rails. The TPS552872 integrates four MOSFET switches, providing a compact solution for a variety of applications. The TPS552872 supports an input voltage up to 36V. In boost mode, the TPS552872 can deliver 30W of output power with a 12V input voltage. It is capable of delivering 25W of power from a 9V input. The TPS552872 employs an average current mode control scheme. The switching frequency is programmable via an external resistor from 200kHz to 2.2MHz and can be synchronized to an external clock. The TPS552872 also offers optional spread spectrum to minimize peak EMI. The TPS552872 provides output overvoltage protection, average inductor current limit, cycle-by-cycle peak current limit, and output short-circuit protection. The TPS552872 also features selectable output current limit and hiccup mode protection to ensure safe operation during sustained overload conditions. The TPS552872 allows the use of small inductors and small capacitors with high switching frequency. This device is available in a 3.0mm × 5.0mm QFN package.
