The GD30BM1018 is a multi-cell battery stack monitorthat measures up to 18 series connected battery cellswith a total measurement error (TME) of less than 2.0mV. The cell measurement range of 0 V to 5 V makesthe GD30BM1018 suitable for most battery chemistries.All 18 cells can be measured in 290 µs, and lower dataacquisition rates can be selected for high noisereduction.Multiple GD30BM1018 devices can be connected inseries, permitting simultaneous cell monitoring of long,high voltage battery strings. Each GD30BM1018 has anisoSPI interface for high speed, RF immune, longdistance communications. Multiple devices areconnected in a daisy chain with one host processorconnection for all devices. This daisy chain can beoperated bi-directionally, ensuring communicationintegrity, even in the event of a fault along thecommunication path.

TheGD30BM1018 includes passive balancing for each cell,with individual pulse-width modulation (PWM) duty cyclecontrol for each cell. Other features include an on-board5 V regulator, nine general-purpose I/O lines, and asleep mode, where current consumption is reduced to 9µA.
